Prof. Gisela Bullacher

Gisela Bullacher was from 2004 through 2023 a professor of photography basics at the Folkwang University of the Arts. In 1989 she graduated with honors in fine art from the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg. This was followed by exhibitions at home and abroad. In 1990 she was an Ars Viva award winner of the Kulturkreises in the BDI, in 1996 she received the working grant from the Kunstfonds Bonn and in 1999 the Edwin Scharff Prize of the city of Hamburg, from 1998 to 2001 she received the research grant of the Hochschulsonderprogramm III (HSP III) on the topic " Depth of field and the network of spatial references ”. From 1999 to 2000 she held a teaching position at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts. This was followed by a one-year visiting professorship for artistic photography at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe.

Arbeitsschwerpunkte

The focus of her artistic work lies in the examination of the object as a visual artefact in its entanglement with humans.
